Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information CyberScop collects when you use cyberscop.com, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices and rights you have. We wrote it in plain English so it is easy to follow.
The short version
- You can use all 8 security tools without an account.
- We use what you enter in a tool only to run that check and show you the result.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
- Standard server logs are kept briefly for security, then deleted.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time.
- Questions? Email hello@cyberscop.com.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
CyberScop ("CyberScop", "we", "us" or "our") operates the website cyberscop.com, including our free online security tools, our blog and the early-access list for VPN Plus, our upcoming VPN service (together, the "Services").
This policy applies to information we collect through the Services. It does not apply to other websites or services that we link to, which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Services. The table shows each type of information, where it comes from and why we use it.
| Information | What it includes | Where it comes from | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tool inputs | The domain names, URLs, IP addresses and DKIM selectors you enter into a tool | You | To run the check you asked for and show you the result |
| Connection information | Your public IP address and the approximate location and internet provider linked to it | Your browser's connection to our server | To show your own results in the IP Lookup, VPN & Proxy Checker and DNS & WebRTC Leak Test |
| Leak test results | The DNS resolvers that handled test lookups from your browser | Your browser and the bash.ws test service | To show you which DNS resolvers your connection uses |
| Server logs | IP address, browser and device type, pages and web addresses requested, referring page, and date and time | Your browser, automatically | To keep the Services secure and reliable, prevent abuse and fix errors |
| Contact messages | Your name, email address, topic and message | You, through our contact form or by email | To reply to you and handle your request |
| Early-access list | Your email address and the page where you joined | You | To send you VPN Plus launch news and your founding-member offer |
| Usage and device information | Pages viewed, time on page, links clicked, device and browser type, and approximate location | Cookies and Google Analytics | To understand how the Services are used and improve them |
Because our tools work through web addresses (for example, cyberscop.com/dns-lookup?domain=example.com), the values you enter can also appear in our standard server logs.
The WebRTC and timezone checks in our leak test run inside your browser. Their results are shown to you and are not sent to us.
We do not ask for sensitive information, such as passwords, government ID numbers or payment card details, through our tools or contact form. Please do not send it to us.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Run our security tools and show you the results.
- Protect the Services, including rate limiting, blocking abuse and preventing automated misuse.
- Reply to your messages and support requests.
- Send VPN Plus early-access emails you asked for.
- Understand how the Services are used so we can fix problems and improve them.
- Comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not build profiles of the domains, links or IP addresses you look up, and we do not link your lookups to your name or email address. We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. We do not sell your information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We use as few as possible:
| Cookie | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Needed for rate limiting and to protect our forms from abuse. | Until you close your browser |
| Google Analytics (_ga and _ga_*) | Helps us count visits and understand which pages are useful. | Up to 2 years |
| Blog cookies | Our blog runs on WordPress, which may set cookies it needs to work. | Varies |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie may stop some tools or forms from working. To opt out of Google Analytics on every website, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because we do not sell personal information or share or use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing for these signals to switch off. Where a law requires it, we treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
Apart from the services described in this policy, we do not allow third parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Services.
8. How long we keep information
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Tool inputs and results | Not stored against your identity. They are processed to show your result and may appear in server logs. |
| Server logs | For a limited period needed for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting, then deleted. |
| Contact messages | As long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, then deleted. |
| Early-access list | Until you unsubscribe or we close the early-access list. |
| Google Analytics data | No longer than 14 months for user-level data. After that, only aggregated reports remain. |
We may keep information longer if the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
9. How we protect information
We use HTTPS encryption across the site, limit access to information to people who need it, and keep our systems updated. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you where the law requires.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws in other US states may give you rights over your personal information. We honor the following requests from every user, wherever you live:
- Access: ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correction: ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information.
- Portability: receive your information in a commonly used format.
- Opt out: of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising or profiling. We do not do any of these.
- Unsubscribe: from our emails at any time using the link in every email.
How to make a request
Email hello@cyberscop.com with the subject "Privacy request", or use our contact form. Tell us which right you want to use and the email address you used with us. To protect your information, we may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you. You can also ask an authorized agent to make a request for you; we may ask the agent for proof that you gave them permission.
We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and may extend this by up to another 45 days where the law allows. We will not treat you differently, charge you more or give you a lower-quality service because you used your privacy rights.
Appeals
If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with the word "Appeal". We will respond to your appeal within 45 days. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can contact your state attorney general.
11. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Where we process information
We and our service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws where you live. Wherever your information is processed, we protect it as described in this policy.
13. VPN Plus
VPN Plus is in early access. Right now we collect only the email address you give us to join the early-access list. We have committed to a no-logs policy for VPN Plus: the service will not log the websites you visit, your DNS queries or the content of your traffic. Before VPN Plus launches, we will update this policy to explain exactly what account and payment information the service needs, and we will not change this commitment without telling you first.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make a material change, we will tell you by posting a notice on the site or, if you have given us your email address, by email before the change takes effect.
15. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, email hello@cyberscop.com or use our contact form.
