Terms of Service
Last updated: October 20, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and CyberScop. They explain the rules for using cyberscop.com, our free security tools, our blog and VPN Plus. Please read them carefully.
The short version
- Only check websites, domains, networks and IP addresses you own or have permission to assess. Public DNS and SSL lookups are fine for any domain.
- Tool results are for information only and can be incomplete or wrong. They are not professional security, legal or compliance advice.
- Don't misuse the tools: no attacks, scanning at scale, harassment, scraping or getting around our limits.
- Paid plans, when available, renew each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time.
- The Services are provided "as is", and our liability is limited as described below.
1. Agreement to these Terms
By using cyberscop.com, our security tools, our blog, our early-access list or any paid plan (together, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it.
2. Who can use the Services
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. To buy a paid plan, you must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority where you live, and able to form a binding contract.
3. Our Services
CyberScop provides free online security tools, including an IP lookup, VPN and proxy checker, DNS and WebRTC leak test, SSL/TLS checker, DNS lookup, email security checker, security headers checker and suspicious URL checker, plus security guides on our blog. VPN Plus, our paid VPN service, is in early access. The free tools do not require an account.
4. Acceptable use
Only use the tools on websites, domains, networks and IP addresses that you own or have permission to assess. Looking up public information, such as DNS records, SSL certificates or the network that owns an IP address, is allowed for any domain or address.
You must not use the Services to:
- Attack, disrupt or gain unauthorized access to any system, network or account.
- Scan, probe or test systems at scale, or test any system without permission.
- Harass, stalk, threaten or locate any person, or collect information about people unlawfully.
- Send automated, bulk or scripted requests, scrape the site, or get around rate limits or other protections without our written permission.
- Upload or distribute malware, or check links as part of building or running phishing or scam campaigns.
- Copy, resell or build a competing product from the tools or their results.
- Break any law or regulation, or infringe the rights of others.
We may limit, block or suspend access from any user, IP address or network that we believe is breaking these rules.
5. Tool results and no professional advice
Our tools use public data, third-party data providers and heuristics. Results are for general information only. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and they can change over time.
Results are not professional security, legal or compliance advice. A good or "low risk" result does not mean that a website, link, email, device or connection is safe, and a warning does not prove that something is malicious. Please verify important results yourself and, for business-critical systems, get a full assessment from a qualified professional.
6. Availability and changes to the Services
We work to keep the Services available, but we do not promise that they will always be available or error-free. We may change, limit, suspend or discontinue any tool or feature at any time. We apply fair-use limits to automated or bulk use.
7. VPN Plus, early access and paid plans
Early access
Joining the VPN Plus early-access list is free and does not commit you to buying anything. Any founding-member price or other launch offer will be described in the email we send you, and we may change or end the early-access program at any time before launch.
Subscriptions
- Before you pay, we will clearly show the price, billing period, renewal terms and any refund policy, and ask for your consent.
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, and we will charge your payment method for the next period until you cancel.
- You can cancel online at any time, in the same way you signed up. Cancellation stops future charges, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before you are charged the new price.
- Prices do not include taxes unless we say so. You are responsible for any taxes that apply.
- Refunds are available as described at checkout or where the law requires.
Using VPN Plus
When VPN Plus is available, the acceptable use rules above also apply to traffic you send through it. You must not use VPN Plus to send spam, distribute malware, attack other systems, infringe copyright or carry out any illegal activity. We may publish additional service terms for VPN Plus, which we will show you before you sign up.
8. Intellectual property
The Services, including the site design, text, graphics, logos, tools and software, are owned by CyberScop or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to use the Services for your own personal or internal business purposes, in line with these Terms.
You are free to use, save and share the results you get from our tools. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or reverse engineer any part of the Services except where the law allows. "CyberScop" and our logo are our trademarks and may not be used without our permission.
9. Your messages and feedback
You are responsible for anything you send us. Please do not send passwords, API keys, payment details or other confidential information. If you send us ideas or suggestions about the Services, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Third-party services and links
Some tools rely on third-party services, such as IP intelligence providers, the bash.ws DNS test service and Google's STUN server, and our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for third-party services or websites, their content or their privacy practices.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES AND ALL TOOL RESULTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CYBERSCOP DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY RESULT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
Some states and countries do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CYBERSCOP WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICES OR ANY RESULT, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN TOLD SUCH DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) US $50.
Some states and countries do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless CyberScop from any claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the Services, your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or the rights of others.
14. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access, without notice where appropriate, if you break these Terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if we discontinue the Services. Sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnity, will continue to apply.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make a material change, we will tell you by posting a notice on the site or by email before the change takes effect. For paid plans, material changes will apply from your next billing period. If you keep using the Services after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
16. Resolving disputes
If you have a concern about the Services, please contact us first at hello@cyberscop.com. Most concerns can be resolved quickly this way. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally within 30 days, either of us may take it to a court that has jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms takes away any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract.
17. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on our site infringes your copyright, email hello@cyberscop.com with: a description of the copyrighted work; the URL of the content you believe infringes it; your name and contact details; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature.
18. Export controls and sanctions
You may not use the Services where doing so would violate US export control or sanctions laws, or if you are on a US government list of restricted parties.
19. General terms
- Entire agreement: these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any terms shown at checkout, are the whole agreement between you and CyberScop about the Services.
- Severability: if any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: if we do not enforce a part of these Terms, we have not given up our right to do so later.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our permission. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Events outside our control: we are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Electronic communications: you agree that we may send notices to you electronically, including by email or by posting them on the site.
20. Contact us
